Magnum was honoured once again to provide sound and communication equipment to one of the UK’s largest agricultural shows:
Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society’s Annual Show held at Withybush Showground, Haverfordwest in West Wales.
Now in our fifth year as main audio contractor and seventh year working with the society, the task becomes more intuitive but still remains
an exciting challenge for the team every year. Magnum provides between ten and fifteen separate systems throughout the site of the show
ensuring all are ready to go by the morning of the first day. Also provided to the ground crew, medical team, stewards, security personnel
and other officials are a total of 42 Motorola radios each capable of being assigned to one of 480 channels for the creation of private
networks amongst personnel within a particular team.
All show ring sound systems are based around 40 watt column loudspeakers which deliver high quality audio at a much fuller range than
traditional horn speakers making listening more pleasurable and minimising spill between arenas. A total of 70 columns are laid out for the
show each year. Pembrokeshire County Show calls for one of the largest ‘horse calling’ systems erected for any of the dates on
Magnum’s calendar. The high powered horn system is used to call competitors in horse classes from the vast horsebox / lorry park and
stable area to each of the 3 main horse arenas. The system was extended further this year through the use of an additional cluster of horns
placed on a road-tow boom lift.
All corporate sound systems such as those in the president’s lunch marquee and sponsor’s reception area are also provided by
Magnum. 4 engineers are on stand-by on each of the 3 days of the event to ensure all systems are running smoothly.
