Magnum engineers were recently enlisted to provide lighting for a live show by the Welsh comedy and singing legend Max Boyce. This one-off
performance was specially for the Caravan Club’s national meeting at Pembrey Country Park and was based in a large marquee.
Having provided lighting for Max before, our engineers knew what was expected and were able to quickly design a rig that would accommodate
Max’s huge variety of performance from upbeat numbers like ‘Sosban Fach’ through to love songs such as ‘Ar Lan y
Môr’ (performance pictured above) and of course his energetic comedy routine.
A 6 meter tri truss section was flown from the marquee structure above the audience to provide key lighting (mainly for the band) from a
number of softly-gelled generic PARs. To save headroom on stage, lanterns were flown directly from the marquee structure: 6 PAR 64s and 3
LED PARs all creating a diverse lighting curtain as can be seen during the support act pictured left. Special scenes for songs were created
using 4 Robe Colorspot 575 AT moving head fixtures. To complete the setup a Cantata follow spot was positioned on a 1.5m high Steel Deck
platform at the rear of the auditorium to follow the performers.
